Peintre renaissance au style nerveux
Lorenzo Lotto était un peintre, dessinateur et illustrateur italien, traditionnellement classé dans l'école vénitienne, bien que la majeure partie de sa carrière ait été passée dans d'autres villes italiennes du nord. Il peignait principalement des autels religieux, des sujets religieux et des portraits. Il fut actif durant la Renaissance high et la première moitié de la période maniérisme, mais son œuvre conserva un style généralement similaire à celui de la Renaissance high tout au long de sa carrière, bien que ses poses nerveuses et excentriques ainsi que ses distorsions représentaient une étape transitoire vers les maniérismes florentins et romains.
