Lorenzo Lotto foi um pintor, desenhista e ilustrador italiano, tradicionalmente colocado na escola veneciana, embora grande parte de sua carreira tenha sido passada em outras cidades do norte da Itália. Ele pintou principalmente retábulos, temas religiosos e retratos. Ele esteve ativo durante o Renascimento Alto e a primeira metade do período manierista, mas seu trabalho manteve um estilo geralmente semelhante ao do Renascimento Alto ao longo de toda sua carreira, embora suas poses nervosas e excêntricas e suas distorções representassem uma fase transitória para os manieristas florentinos e romanos.
