路易-利奧波德·布瓦伊是一位法國畫家和繪圖員。作為一位才華橫溢的流行肖像畫創作者，他還創作了大量風俗畫，生動地記錄了法國中產階級的社會生活。 Boilly出生於法國北部的拉巴塞，是當地一位木雕師的兒子。作為一名自學成才的畫家，Boilly很小就開始了他的職業生涯，在十二三歲時創作了他的第一批作品。1774年，他開始向杜埃的奧斯定會修士展示他的作品，他們顯然印象深刻：三年內，阿拉斯的主教邀請這位年輕人到他的主教轄區工作和學習。在那裡，他創作了大量畫作——約三百幅小型肖像作品。在約1787年移居巴黎之前，他曾師從Dominique Doncre（1743–1820）學習錯視畫技法。 Boilly是他那個時代一位廣受歡迎且備受讚譽的畫家。他是最早創作石版畫的藝術家之一，並透過出售版畫和繪畫作品而致富。1804年，他因作品The Arrival of a Mail-coach in the Courtyard of the Messageries而獲得巴黎沙龍頒發的獎章。1833年，他被授予國家最高榮譽勳章——Légion d'honneur的chevalier稱號。
