Maria Klass-Kazanowska
Realistische Malerin von Genres und Landschaften
Maria Klass-Kazanowska stammte aus einer verarmten Adelsfamilie. Im Jahr 1878 begann sie ihr Studium an der von Wojciech Gerson geleiteten Malerschule für Frauen. Auf Rat des Professors reiste sie 1881 zur weiteren Ausbildung nach Sankt Petersburg und begann ihr Studium an der dortigen Akademie der Schönen Künste. Im Jahr 1884 schloss sie den Grundkurs in der Klasse von B. Willewald ab und erhielt eine Silbermedaille. Mit ihrem Ehemann, dem Maler Władysław Kazanowski, verbrachte sie mehrere Jahre in Wolhynien, von wo aus beide nach Sankt Petersburg zurückkehrten. Sie malte realistisch Genreszenen, Landschaften und architektonische Ansichten aus Wolhynien (einschließlich Kamieniec Podolski), Tierszenen und Blumenkompositionen.
