Maria Klass-Kazanowska
Pittrice realista di generi e paesaggi
Maria Klass-Kazanowska proveniva da una famiglia nobile impoverita. Nel 1878 iniziò a studiare presso la scuola di pittura per donne diretta da Wojciech Gerson. Su consiglio del professore, nel 1881 partì per San Pietroburgo per proseguire gli studi e iniziò a frequentare l'Accademia delle Belle Arti locale. Nel 1884 completò il corso base nella classe di B. Willewald, ricevendo una medaglia d'argento. Con suo marito, il pittore Władysław Kazanowski, trascorse diversi anni in Volinia, da dove entrambi tornarono a San Pietroburgo. Dipinse, in stile realistico, scene di genere, paesaggi e vedute architettoniche della Volinia (inclusa Kamieniec Podolski), scene animali e composizioni floreali.
