マリオン・T・ロス
初期の漫画家・童書挿画家
M.T. ロスは、愛称「ペニー」として親しまれた、20世紀初頭のイラストレーター兼コミックアーティストでした。彼はイリノイ州オークパークに住み、シカゴのダウンタウンにスタジオを構えていました。彼はウォルト・ディズニーの初期の同僚の一人であり、R.F. アウトコールトの親しい友人でもありました。アウトコールトとは共に『バスター・ブラウン』を開発しました。M.T. 「ペニー」ロスは1926年に南カリフォルニアに移り、RKOや他のスタジオでセットデザイナーとして働きました。 彼は1908年に新聞コミック『ママの天使の子供』を創作しました。この作品は非常に人気を集め、『シカゴ・トリビューン』や『ボルチモア・アメリカン』など全米25の主要新聞で15年間連載されました。また、エリザベス・ゴードン作の『フラワー・ベイビーズ・ブック』『フラワー・チルドレン』『バタフライ・ベイビーズ』のほか、『バード・チルドレン』や『アニマル・チルドレン』といった児童書の挿絵を手がけました。 彼は1937年、カリフォルニア州オークランドで心臓発作のため56歳で亡くなりました。
