马蒂厄·埃利亚斯
敦刻尔克宗教祭坛画家
马蒂厄·埃利亚斯(Matheiu Elias),又称埃利亚斯(Elyas)或埃利(Elie),于1658年出生在卡塞尔附近的佩纳。他的父母极其贫困,童年时他受雇放牧牲畜。在这种卑微的境况中,一位名叫菲利普·德·科尔贝汉(Philippe De Corbehem)的敦刻尔克画家注意到他在地上描摹物体。这位艺术家被这一不同寻常的情形以及男孩显而易见的天赋所打动,说服了他的母亲将他托付给自己照顾。 在指导他一段时间后,他派他前往巴黎深造,他在那里找到了工作,并居住了数年。德科尔贝姆去世后,他定居于敦刻尔克,并为该镇及其周边地区的教堂绘制了一些祭坛画。他于1741年在敦刻尔克去世。
