保罗-卡米耶·吉古
受现实主义影响的普罗旺斯风景
保罗·卡米尔·吉古是一位法国风景画家。 吉古出生于沃克吕兹省的维拉尔，出身于一个富裕的农民和公证人家庭。他在阿普特学习绘画，后来在马赛师从埃米尔·卢邦。1854年至1861年间，他在马赛担任公证人书记员。1863年，卢邦去世后，他离开马赛前往巴黎，并在那里度过了大部分人生。他常去盖尔布瓦咖啡馆，那是许多未来印象派画家的常聚之地。 吉古主要使用油画和水彩画绘制普罗旺斯风景。他的早期艺术受到卢邦的影响，后来则受到巴比松画派和古斯塔夫·库尔贝的影响。他在世时并未获得广泛认可，在公共展览上常常遭遇冷漠。由于无法靠自己的画作维持生计，他还担任艺术导师和评论家。 他因中风在巴黎去世，享年37岁。去世后，他的作品在公众视野中沉寂了约三十年，直到1900年法国艺术百年博览会才重新被发现。他的画作在巴黎和马赛均有公开展出。
