Philippe-Jacques de Loutherbourg

Philip James de Loutherbourg, wiens naam soms wordt weergegeven in de Franse vorm Philippe-Jacques, de Duitse vorm Philipp Jakob, of met het Engelse epitheton ’de Jongere’ (the Younger), was een in Frankrijk geboren Britse schilder die bekend werd om zijn grote maritieme werken, zijn uitgewerkte decorontwerpen voor Londense theaters en zijn uitvinding van een mechanisch theater genaamd de ’Eidophusikon’. Hij had ook interesse in geloofsgenezing en het occulte, en was een metgezel van de oplichter Cagliostro.
