Pietro Antonio Novelli
Venezianischer Maler von Altarbildern
Pietro Antonio Novelli war ein italienischer Maler und Kupferstecher. Novelli erhielt seine Ausbildung bei dem venezianischen Maler Jacopo Amigoni. Im Jahr 1768 wurde er als Mitglied der Accademia di Belle Arti in Venedig aufgenommen. Novelli schuf Altarbilder und Fresken in ganz Norditalien. Einige seiner Aufträge stammten von Katharina der Großen. Um 1779 zog er nach Rom, wo er mehr als 20 Jahre blieb. Später kehrte er nach Venedig zurück, wo er 1804 starb. Seine Memoiren wurden posthum im Jahr 1834 veröffentlicht.
