リチャード・クーパー（老）
エディンバラで活動した英国版画家
リチャード・クーパー（父）はイギリスの版画家で、キャリアの大部分をエディンバラで過ごした。 クーパーはロンドンで生まれ、ジョン・パインの下で版画彫刻を学んだ。父の死後、彼はイタリアを訪れることができ、そこで数年間巨匠たちの作品を研究し、有能な芸術家となり、デッサンや版画のコレクションを形成した。 イングランドに戻ったクーパーは、ガスリー氏とともにエディンバラへ行き、そこで彫版師として定住した。彼はセント・ジョン・ストリートに家を建て、自分の絵で装飾した。ロバート・ストレンジを含む見習い弟子を取った。 クーパーは1764年に死去し、エディンバラのキャノンゲート教会墓地に埋葬された。
