Salomon Koninck

Salomon Koninck foi um pintor holandês de cenas de gênero e retratos, além de gravador. Koninck nasceu em Amsterdã, filho de um ourives originário de Antuérpia, e era sobrinho de Philips de Koninck. Salomon tornou-se aluno de Pieter Lastman, David Colijns, François Venants e Claes Corneliszoon Moeyaert. A partir de 1630, foi membro da Guilda de São Lucas. Ele circulava nos círculos de Rembrandt e na academia de Hendrick van Uylenburgh, fazendo muitas cópias das composições de Rembrandt. Suas pinturas têm uma paleta de cores quentes e incluem muitos «filósofos» ou estudiosos. Talvez uma das mais conhecidas seja o Filósofo com um Livro Aberto no Louvre, que durante muito tempo foi atribuída a Rembrandt e serviu como peça complementar ao Filósofo em Meditação de Rembrandt. Casou-se com uma filha de Adriaen van Nieulandt e, mais tarde, com uma irmã de Antonie van Stralen. Faleceu em Amsterdã em 1656.
