Abraham van Strij
Pittore olandese del XVIII secolo
Abraham van Strij fu un pittore del XVIII secolo originario dei Paesi Bassi settentrionali. Van Strij nacque e morì a Dordrecht. Secondo il RKD, era figlio di Leendert e fratello di Jacob. Sia lui che suo fratello furono allievi del padre e, dopo aver seguito le lezioni di Joris Ponse, Abraham entrò nella bottega del padre. Fu membro della Gilda di San Luca di Dordrecht e in seguito ne divenne direttore. Suo figlio Abraham II divenne anch'egli pittore; oltre al figlio, lui e suo fratello accolsero allievi dopo aver rilevato la bottega del padre. I loro allievi furono Pieter Rudolph Kleijn, Johannes van Lexmond, Jacob de Meijer, Johannes Rutten, Johannes Schoenmakers, Johannes Christiaan Schotel e Gillis Smak Gregoor.
