Albert Levering

Albert Levering nacque a Hope, Indiana, figlio di Levi L. Levering, un carpentiere. La famiglia si trasferì in seguito a Kansas City, Missouri. Levering studiò architettura e esercitò quella professione per otto anni a San Antonio, Texas. In seguito abbandonò l'architettura per diventare un artista di giornale. Levering lavorò per giornali a Kansas City, Missouri, nonché per il Minneapolis Times e il Chicago Tribune. Nel 1896 si trasferì a New York e lavorò per il New York Journal, il Tribune e l'Herald-Tribune. Successivamente lavorò come illustratore di libri e riviste per Puck, Life, Collier's e Cosmopolitan. Entro il 1903 aveva una rubrica fissa a pagina intera su Harper's Weekly. Nel 1909 Levering disegnò la copertina e il frontespizio per il breve libro di Mark Twain Extract from Captain Stormfield's Visit to Heaven.
