Albert Levering

Albert Levering nasceu em Hope, Indiana, filho de Levi L. Levering, um carpinteiro. A família mudou-se mais tarde para Kansas City, Missouri. Levering estudou arquitetura e exerceu essa profissão por oito anos em San Antonio, Texas. Posteriormente, ele abandonou a arquitetura para se tornar um artista de jornal. Levering trabalhou para jornais em Kansas City, Missouri, bem como para o Minneapolis Times e o Chicago Tribune. Em 1896, mudou-se para Nova York e trabalhou para o New York Journal, Tribune e Herald-Tribune. Subsequentemente, trabalhou como ilustrador de livros e revistas para a equipe de Puck, Life, Collier's e Cosmopolitan. Até 1903, ele tinha um recurso regular de página inteira na Harper's Weekly. Em 1909, Levering desenhou a capa e o frontispício do livro curto de Mark Twain, Extract from Captain Stormfield's Visit to Heaven.
