Ary de Vois fu un pittore olandese dell'età dell'oro. Ary de Vois nacque e morì a Leida. Era figlio di Alewijn de Vois di Utrecht, che fu organista nella Pieterskerk di Leida nel 1635. Ary divenne allievo a Utrecht di Nikolaus Knüpfer, che insegnò anche a Jan Steen. In seguito, Ary tornò a Leida per studiare con Abraham van den Tempel, che visse lì tra il 1648 e il 1660. De Vois si unì alla Gilda di San Luca di Leida il 16 ottobre 1653, pagando le quote fino al 1677. Fu decano nel 1662-64, capo nel 1664-65 e nuovamente decano dal 1667 al 1668. Sposò Maria van der Vecht il 5 febbraio 1656. Secondo Houbraken, il suo matrimonio causò una pausa nella sua produzione, specialmente quando si trasferì a Warmond, dove prese a pescare come hobby. Dovette tornare a Leida per mantenere alti i suoi livelli di produzione.
