アッティリオ・ムッシーノ
ピノキオの象徴的視覚遺産
アッティリオ・ムッシーノは、1911年にカルロ・コッローディの『ピノキオの冒険』初のカラー版の挿絵を手がけたことで知られるイタリアの画家・漫画家である。第一次世界大戦中、ムッシーノは兵士としてフランスの戦場や軍事作戦の日常を描くために自身の芸術的才能を活かした。イタリア・トリノにある数世紀の歴史を持つ高等教育機関、アルベルティーナ美術アカデミーで学んだムッシーノは、グリム兄弟やハンス・クリスチャン・アンデルセンの童話、マーク・トウェインの『トム・ソーヤーの冒険』など多くの児童書の挿絵を手がけた。 数多くの芸術的業績に加えて、ムッシーノはいたずら好きなキャラクター・ピノキオの決定的な肖像画と、児童文学で最も再版され、ベストセラーとなったこの重要な童話のバージョンで最もよく記憶されるだろう。
