Augustus Pugin
Pioneiro do revival gótico
Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin foi um arquiteto, designer, artista e crítico inglês principalmente lembrado por seu papel pioneiro no estilo da arquitetura do Renascimento Gótico. Seu trabalho culminou no projeto do interior do Palácio de Westminster em Westminster, Londres, Inglaterra, e de sua icônica torre do relógio, mais tarde renomeada Torre Elizabeth, que abriga o sino conhecido como Big Ben. Pugin projetou muitas igrejas na Inglaterra, bem como algumas na Irlanda e na Austrália. Ele era filho de Auguste Pugin e pai de Edward Welby Pugin e Peter Paul Pugin, que continuaram seu escritório de arquitetura sob o nome de Pugin & Pugin. Ele também criou o Castelo de Alton em Alton, Staffordshire.
