Bartolomeo Passarotti
Manierismo boloñés influyó en el barroco
Bartolomeo Passarotti o Passerotti (1529–1592) fue un pintor italiano del período manierista, que trabajó principalmente en su ciudad natal de Bolonia. Su apellido también se escribe Passerotti o Passarotto. Desde aproximadamente 1550 hasta 1555, vivió en Roma, donde trabajó bajo la dirección de Giacomo Barozzi da Vignola y Taddeo Zuccari. Al regresar a Bolonia, estableció un gran taller y, entre 1564 y 1565, se dedicó a pintar un gran retablo para la Basílica de San Giacomo Maggiore. En su obra posterior, adoptó modelos toscanos, como los de Giorgio Vasari y Prospero Fontana. Su última obra conocida es La presentación de María en el templo, de 1583, que actualmente se conserva en la Pinacoteca Nacional de Bolonia. Influyó en muchos artistas boloñeses que posteriormente desempeñarían un papel en el auge del Barroco. Annibale Carracci (cuyo hermano Agostino estudió con Passerotti) recibió la influencia de las escenas de género de Passerotti en un conjunto selecto de pinturas (como El comefrijoles y La carnicería, esta última atribuida originalmente a Passerotti). Lucio Massari y Francesco Brizzi se contaron entre sus alumnos. Tres de los hijos de Passerotti, incluidos Ventura (1566–1618), Aurelio (1560–1609) y Tiburzio, fueron pintores.
