Bartolomeo Passarotti
Maniérisme bolonais influençant le baroque
Bartolomeo Passarotti ou Passerotti (1529–1592) était un peintre italien de la période maniériste, qui travailla principalement dans sa ville natale de Bologne. Son nom de famille s'écrit également Passerotti ou Passarotto. D'environ 1550 à 1555, il vécut à Rome, où il travailla sous la direction de Giacomo Barozzi da Vignola et de Taddeo Zuccari. De retour à Bologne, il fonda un grand atelier et, de 1564 à 1565, fut chargé de peindre un grand retable pour la basilique San Giacomo Maggiore. Dans ses œuvres tardives, il s'inspira des modèles toscans, tels que Giorgio Vasari et Prospero Fontana. Sa dernière œuvre connue est La Présentation de Marie au Temple, datant de 1583, aujourd'hui conservée à la Pinacothèque nationale de Bologne. Il a influencé de nombreux artistes bolonais qui ont ensuite joué un rôle dans l'essor du baroque. Annibale Carracci (dont le frère Agostino a étudié auprès de Passerotti) a été influencé par les scènes de genre de Passerotti dans une sélection de peintures (telles que Le Mangeur de haricots et La Boutique du boucher, cette dernière ayant été initialement attribuée à Passerotti). Lucio Massari et Francesco Brizzi figuraient parmi ses élèves. Trois des fils de Passerotti, dont Ventura (1566–1618), Aurelio (1560–1609) et Tiburzio, étaient peintres.
