베네데토 루티
파스텔을 최종 작품으로 확립
베네데토 루티는 이탈리아의 화가였다. 루티는 1666년 11월 17일 피렌체에서 태어났다. 1691년에 그는 로마로 이주하여 토스카나 대공 코시모 3세 데 메디치의 후원을 받았는데, 코시모 3세는 루티의 파스텔 초상화의 열렬한 애호가였다. 루티는 회화나 프레스코화의 예비 습작이 아닌 최종 완성 작품으로서 파스텔을 사용한 최초의 예술가 중 한 명이었다. 그는 유화와 프레스코화도 제작했으며, 산 조반니 인 라테라노 대성당을 위한 작품도 남겼다. 루티는 성공한 미술상이자 드로잉 학교를 운영하기도 했다. 1720년 그는 로마 성 루카 아카데미에서 기사 작위를 받았으며 프린치페로 선출되었다.
