찰스 엠프슨
남미 식물 수채화
영국 배스의 판화 및 수채화 딜러인 찰스 엠프슨은 1824년부터 1827년까지 3년 동안 남아메리카 북부 지역, 주로 현재의 콜롬비아 지역을 여행했다. 그가 그 여행에서 처음 접한 남아메리카의 이국적인 식물에 대한 원본 드로잉은 남아메리카 여행기로 더 잘 알려진 뛰어난 기술과 업적을 가진 예술가를 소개한다. 엠프슨은 콜롬비아 북부 해안의 시에네가에서 출발하여 안데스 산맥의 중앙 및 동부 코디예라를 거쳐 마그달레나 강을 통해 남쪽의 온다로 이동한 후, 동쪽으로 베네수엘라로 들어갔다.
