Charles Leickert
Maestro degli inverni olandesi
Charles Henri Joseph Leickert era un pittore belga di paesaggi olandesi. Come specialista in paesaggi invernali, esplorò le sfumature del cielo serale e dell'alba dalle dita rosee. Charles Leickert imparò inizialmente la pittura all'Aia sotto la supervisione dei pittori paesaggisti Bartholomeus van Hove, Wijnand Nuijen e Andreas Schelfhout, tra molti altri. Leickert si specializzò in scene invernali, a volte romanticizzando il cielo con azzurri pallidi e rosa brillanti, ma è altrettanto noto per le sue numerose vedute urbane. Dipinse quasi tutte le sue opere nei Paesi Bassi, all'Aia dal 1841 al 1846 e ad Amsterdam dal 1849 al 1883. Nel 1856, divenne membro della Reale Accademia di Amsterdam. All'età di 71 anni si trasferì a Magonza, in Germania, dove morì nel 1907.
