夏爾·梅尼耶
法國新古典主義歷史畫家
查爾斯·梅尼耶是18世紀末至19世紀初的法國歷史題材畫家。他是安托萬-讓·格羅和雅克-路易·大衛的同時代人。 梅尼耶是一位裁縫的兒子。他在年輕時便師從皮埃爾-菲利普·肖法爾。作為弗朗索瓦-安德烈·樊尚的學生，梅尼耶在1789年的羅馬大獎競賽中獲得二等獎；冠軍由吉羅代獲得。他成為法蘭西學院羅馬分院的成員。1793年，他回到巴黎。 他為卡魯塞爾凱旋門和巴黎證券交易所的浮雕與雕像進行設計。自1816年起，他是法蘭西藝術院院士。1819年，梅尼耶獲任為巴黎高等美術學院教師。他與妻子一樣，死於霍亂。
