Charles Williams
Principal caricaturista británico
Charles Williams fue un caricaturista, grabador e ilustrador británico. Fue el principal caricaturista entre 1799 y 1815 para el destacado editor británico S. W. Fores. Trabajaba en un estilo similar al de James Gillray. En sus primeras obras, Williams utilizó los seudónimos Ansell o Argus; junto con George Cruikshank y otros, ilustró The Every-Day Book de William Hone, editado entre 1825 y 1826. Williams fue el primero de muchos que caricaturizaron al primer duque de Wellington; publicó un dibujo de él en septiembre de 1808, durante la Guerra Peninsular, en el cual el duque corta la coleta del general francés Jean-Andoche Junot, derrotado en la Batalla de Vimeiro.
