Charles Williams
Principale caricaturista britannico
Charles Williams era un caricaturista, incisore e illustratore britannico. Fu il principale caricaturista tra il 1799 e il 1815 per il noto editore britannico S. W. Fores. Lavorava in uno stile simile a quello di James Gillray. Nelle sue opere iniziali, Williams usava gli pseudonimi Ansell o Argus; insieme a George Cruikshank e altri, illustrò The Every-Day Book di William Hone, pubblicato tra il 1825 e il 1826. Williams fu il primo tra molti a caricaturare il primo duca di Wellington; pubblicò un disegno di lui nel settembre 1808, durante la Guerra Peninsulare, in cui il duca taglia la coda di cavallo del generale francese Jean-Andoche Junot, sconfitto nella Battaglia di Vimeiro.
