Charles Williams
Principal caricaturista britânico
Charles Williams foi um caricaturista, gravador e ilustrador britânico. Ele foi o principal caricaturista entre 1799 e 1815 para o importante editor britânico S. W. Fores. Trabalhava em um estilo semelhante ao de James Gillray. Em suas primeiras obras, Williams usou os pseudônimos Ansell ou Argus; junto com George Cruikshank e outros, ilustrou The Every-Day Book de William Hone, editado entre 1825 e 1826. Williams foi o primeiro entre muitos a caricaturar o 1º Duque de Wellington; ele publicou um desenho dele em setembro de 1808, durante a Guerra Peninsular, no qual o duque corta a trança do general francês Jean-Andoche Junot, derrotado na Batalha de Vimeiro.
