Christian Albrecht Jensen

Christian Albrecht Jensen était un peintre de portraits danois qui a été actif pendant l'âge d'or de la peinture danoise dans la première moitié du XIXe siècle. Ayant peint plus de 400 portraits au cours de sa carrière, il a représenté la plupart des figures majeures de l'âge d'or danois, y compris l'écrivain Hans Christian Andersen, le peintre Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg, le sculpteur Bertel Thorvaldsen, le physicien Hans Christian Ørsted et le théologien N. F. S. Grundtvig. Bien que Jensen ait connu un succès commercial considérable, il a reçu peu de reconnaissance officielle de la part de l'establishment artistique de son époque. En particulier, l'historien de l'art et critique Niels Lauritz Høyen a critiqué son style, jugeant ses peintures « inachevées ».
