Dietrich Wilhelm Lindau

Dietrich Wilhelm Lindau était un peintre et dessinateur allemand de genre et de paysage. Il a d'abord étudié à l'Académie des beaux-arts de Dresde avec Ferdinand Hartmann et a été soutenu par lui. En 1821, il se rendit à Rome grâce à une bourse saxonne, accompagné d'autres peintres allemands (dont Carl Götzloff, Carl Georg Schumacher et Anton Josef Dräger), où il mourut à l'âge de 63 ans. Il fut co-fondateur de la Société Ponte Molle à Rome, précurseur de l'Association artistique allemande de 1845. Il ne retourna jamais dans sa patrie, bien qu'on lui ait offert un poste d'enseignant à l'Académie de Dresde.
