Dietrich Wilhelm Lindau

Dietrich Wilhelm Lindau era un pittore e disegnatore tedesco di genere e paesaggio. Ha studiato inizialmente all'Accademia d'Arte di Dresda con Ferdinand Hartmann ed è stato sostenuto da lui. Nel 1821 si recò a Roma con una borsa di studio sassone insieme ad altri pittori tedeschi (tra cui Carl Götzloff, Carl Georg Schumacher e Anton Josef Dräger), dove morì all'età di 63 anni. Fu cofondatore della Società Ponte Molle a Roma, precursore dell'Associazione Artistica Tedesca del 1845. Non tornò mai nella sua terra natale, nonostante gli fosse stata offerta una posizione di insegnamento all'Accademia di Dresda.
