디르크 판 베르겐은 네덜란드 황금시대의 풍경화가였다. 하우브라켄에 따르면, 그는 아드리안 판 데 벨데의 제자로, 그의 스타일을 매우 잘 모방했다. 그는 인기 있는 사람이었으며, 돈을 벌 만큼 쉽게 썼고, 잉글랜드에서 얼마간 머물렀으나 하를럼에서 사망했다. RKD에 따르면, 그의 작품은 나중에 빌헬름 폰 코벨에게 영향을 미쳤다.
