Pionier der amerikanischen Lithografie
Die Donaldson Lithographing Company begann als kleines Lithografieunternehmen mit Sitz in Cincinnati, Ohio (10. August 1863). William M. Donaldson und Henry Elms gründeten das Unternehmen als Partner, bis Elms 1872 verstarb. Nach dem Tod von Elms war Donaldson allein für das Unternehmen verantwortlich. Im Jahr 1883 gliederte Donaldson das Geschäft offiziell als Donaldson Lithograph Company ein. Das Unternehmen florierte, nachdem es 1898 nach Newport, Kentucky, umgezogen war. Donaldson fügte einen weiteren Standort in Covington, Kentucky, hinzu, der sich auf die Herstellung von Kunstschildern spezialisierte. William Donaldson starb am 22. Oktober 1931. Er war 91 Jahre alt. Das Unternehmen blieb bis 1981 in Familienbesitz.
