愛德華·拉姆森·亨利
美國歷史風俗畫家
愛德華·拉姆森·亨利，通常被稱為E.L.亨利，是一位美國風俗畫家，出生於南卡羅來納州查爾斯頓。 雖然出生在查爾斯頓，但七歲時父母雙亡，亨利搬到紐約市與表親同住。他開始在那裡和費城的賓夕法尼亞美術學院學習繪畫。1860年，他前往巴黎，在那裡與克勞德·莫內、皮埃爾-奧古斯特·雷諾瓦、弗雷德里克·巴齊耶和阿爾弗雷德·西斯萊大約同一時間，師從查爾斯·格萊爾和古斯塔夫·庫爾貝。 1862年，他回到美國，在美國內戰期間擔任一艘聯邦運輸船上的文員。戰後他重新開始繪畫，許多作品都受到他在戰爭中的經歷啟發。他搬進了格林威治村著名的第十街工作室大樓，溫斯洛·霍默也在那裡有一個工作室。1869年，亨利當選為紐約國家設計學院會員。 他於1919年5月9日在紐約州埃倫維爾的家中去世。
