Edward Pritchett
Raadselachtige schilder van Venetië
Edward Pritchett was een negentiende-eeuwse Engelse schilder en een raadselachtig figuur. Er is niets bekend over het leven van Pritchett; hij is terecht beschreven als "ontwijkend". Hij heeft mogelijk tot 1879 geleefd. Pritchett bracht meer dan drie decennia door met wonen en werken in Venetië, waarbij hij bewonderenswaardige gezichten van de stad produceerde; hij was een van een groep Engelse kunstenaars die opmerkelijke registraties maakten van de taferelen in Noord-Italië, een groep waartoe John Wharlton Bunney, James Holland, de zwagers Luke Fildes en Henry Woods behoorden, en, in een latere generatie, William Logsdail.
