Elias Martin
Primo grande paesaggista svedese
Elias Martin era un pittore svedese di genere, storico e paesaggista, nonché incisore, originario di Stoccolma. È noto per i suoi acquerelli di Stoccolma e per i suoi dipinti a olio di paesaggio che presentano effetti di luce romantici. La Nationalencyklopedin lo descrive come il «primo grande pittore di paesaggi» della Svezia. Tra le opere più famose di Martin di questo periodo vi sono i dipinti che realizzò nella Biblioteca Bodleiana di Oxford. Questi includono Britomartis befriande Amoret ur trollqvinnans våld (in italiano: Britomart libera Amor dal possesso della strega; basato sul poema epico La Regina delle Fate di Edmund Spenser) e Arkebiskop Langton, som af konungen erhåller en handling.
