Elias Martin
Primeiro grande paisagista sueco
Elias Martin foi um pintor sueco de gênero, história e paisagem, bem como gravador, originário de Estocolmo. Ele é conhecido por suas aquarelas de Estocolmo e por suas pinturas a óleo de paisagens que apresentam efeitos de luz românticos. A Nationalencyklopedin o descreve como o «primeiro grande pintor de paisagens» da Suécia. Entre as obras mais famosas de Martin desta época estão as pinturas que ele fez na Biblioteca Bodleiana de Oxford. Estas incluem Britomartis befriande Amoret ur trollqvinnans våld (em português: Britomart liberta Amor da posse da bruxa; baseado no poema épico A Rainha das Fadas de Edmund Spenser) e Arkebiskop Langton, som af konungen erhåller en handling.
