多作な米国の童書挿画家
Elmer Boyd Smithは、アメリカの児童書作家、イラストレーター、画家でした。 スミスはニューブランズウィック州セントジョンで生まれ、1881年から1884年までパリのアカデミー・ジュリアンでギュスターヴ・ブーランジェとジュール・ジョセフ・ルフェーブルに師事し、またH.ルフォールにも数年間師事した。1900年代初頭、彼はコネチカット州ウィルトンに移り、そこで生涯の残りを過ごした。彼は1896年にフランスに住んでいた時に執筆した『My Village』から始まり、成人と子供向けに70冊以上の書籍の挿絵を描いた。彼の最初の子供向けの本は1905年の『The Story of Noah's Ark』だった。
