Erwin Puchinger
Pioniere viennese dell'arte totale
Erwin Puchinger era un pittore, illustratore, designer industriale e artista grafico viennese. Fu una figura influente nell'arte viennese di fine secolo. Puchinger fece parte dei movimenti austriaci Jugendstil e Gesamtkunstwerk (opera d'arte totale), che cercavano di eliminare i confini tra arte pura e arte applicata. Puchinger lavorò a Londra, Praga e Parigi oltre che a Vienna e collaborò con altre importanti personalità dell'arte e del design viennese come Ernst e Gustav Klimt e Otto Prutscher. Fu un rispettato professore d'arte presso l'Istituto di Arti Grafiche, dove insegnò per oltre trent'anni. Le sue opere furono anche incluse nella gara di pittura del concorso d'arte ai Giochi Olimpici estivi del 1936.
