Ferdinand Katona

Katona Nándor o Nathan Ferdinand Kleinberger era un pittore ebreo ungherese. Figlio di una famiglia ebrea estremamente povera, fu scoperto come un prodigio, allevato e istruito nella pittura da László Mednyánszky. In seguito studiò a Budapest e Parigi, e viaggiò ampiamente in tutta l'Europa occidentale. La maggior parte delle sue opere raffigura scene della natura della sua regione natale, in particolare della contea di Szepes (Spiš), con viste dei Monti Tatra e dell'area di Késmárk (Kežmarok), che considerava la sua città natale nonostante avesse trascorso gran parte della sua vita a Budapest.
