Johann Friedrich Perlberg was a German painter known for his depictions of Middle Eastern sites and cities. In 1896, he traveled to Egypt , Nubia, and the Sudan. In 1898, he was part of the entourage of Kaiser Wilhelm II to the Holy Land. His watercolors, often made on the site, were reproduced as postcards.
