Bold Yuan Mi-style landscape painter
Gao Ranhui(高然暉) has few historical records about him. Some say he was a Yuan Dynasty painter skilled in painting techniques, particularly in the style of Mi family landscapes (Mifa shanshui). His works are bold and expressive, similar in style to Gao Kegong's(高克恭) paintings. There are no biographies of him in China; he is only mentioned in Japanese records. Some believe he might be the same person as the Yuan painter Gao Kegong. Others think that the landscape painting attributed to him might actually be a Ming Dynasty work.
