乔治·汉德·赖特
美国插画家转型版画家
乔治·汉德·赖特是一位美国画家、插画家和版画家。他出生于宾夕法尼亚州费城的福克斯蔡斯区，是一名铁匠的儿子。他曾就读于当地的技术学校春园学院，并曾在一位平版印刷师手下当学徒。他在宾夕法尼亚美术学院师从罗伯特·冯诺学习，同班同学包括罗伯特·亨利、约翰·斯隆和威廉·格拉肯斯。 他搬到了纽约市，他的第一幅插画于1893年刊登在《斯克里布纳杂志》上。他为许多书籍绘制了插图，他的作品很快便定期出现在《斯克里布纳》、《哈珀》、《科利尔》、《星期六晚邮报》等杂志上。 他与安妮·博伊兰结婚，并于1907年在康涅狄格州韦斯特波特定居。他成为了当地艺术社区的创始人之一。在职业生涯中期，他从商业插画转向了水彩画、粉彩画和蚀刻画。 他曾在宾夕法尼亚美术学院、布鲁克林蚀刻师协会、美国蚀刻师协会以及多家纽约画廊展出作品。他是美国蚀刻师协会、插画家协会、Salmagundi俱乐部和韦斯特波特艺术家协会的成员。1939年，他当选为国家设计学院院士。 赖特于1951年在韦斯特波特去世。
