George Trobridge was een Engelse kunstenaar wiens landschappen en zee-schilderijen veel waardering ontvingen in heel Engeland. Hij was ook directeur van de Belfast School of Art in Noord-Ierland, een positie die hij voor twintig één jaar bekleedde, en de vader van de bekende architect Ernest George Trobridge Hij exposeerde in Engeland, bij de Belfast Ramblers' Sketching Club en in Dublin. Hij publiceerde The Principles of Perspective as Applied to Model Drawing and Sketching from Nature (1884) en Swedenborg, His Life, Teachings and Influence, en The Foundations of Philosophy (1904).
