Giulio Cesare Procaccini
Pintor barroco temprano que mezcla manierismo y colorismo
Giulio Cesare Procaccini fue un pintor y escultor italiano del primer barroco en Milán. Nacido en Bolonia, era hijo del pintor manierista Ercole Procaccini el Viejo. Comenzó como escultor en la catedral de Milán y en la iglesia milanesa de Santa Maria presso San Celso. En 1610 pintó seis de los Quadroni, grandes lienzos que celebran a san Carlos Borromeo. Entre sus numerosos retablos se encuentran la Circuncisión, actualmente en la Galería Estense de Módena, y la Última Cena para el convento asociado a la basílica della Santissima Annunziata del Vastato en Génova. También pintó la Flagelación de Cristo. También pintó pequeños lienzos religiosos para familias adineradas en Milán y Génova, donde vio las obras de Rubens. Su estilo muestra la influencia del manierismo boloñés y el colorismo veneciano, y marca el inicio del barroco.
