Giuseppe Cades
Pittore e scultore neoclassico romano
Giuseppe Cades fu uno scultore, pittore e incisore italiano. Cades nacque a Roma. Studiò sotto Mancini e Domenico Corvi, vincendo un premio nel 1765 con il suo dipinto raffigurante Tobia che riacquista la vista. Visitò Firenze nel 1766 e due anni dopo realizzò una pala d'altare per San Benedetto a Torino e nel 1771 un'altra per la chiesa dei Santi Apostoli. Decorò anche Palazzo Chigi con affreschi, paesaggi e scene tratte dal Tasso. Ha lasciato due incisioni all'acquaforte: Cristo che benedice i fanciulli e La morte di Leonardo da Vinci. Entrò nell'Accademia di San Luca di Roma nel 1786. Morì a Roma.
