Gustave Vanaise
Pintor histórico flamenco, fundador Veinte
Nacido en Gante, donde recibió enseñanza antes de completar su formación en Bruselas, Vanaise se convirtió en 1883 en uno de los miembros fundadores del grupo Les Vingt. Influido por el arte flamenco y posteriormente por el arte neerlandés, tras una visita a los Países Bajos a principios de 1878, pero también por contemporáneos como Jan Van Beers, Vanaise se trasladó a París en agosto de 1878. Pasó dos años allí y pintó sus primeras grandes pinturas históricas, que comenzó a exhibir en el Salón.
