Hamilton King nasceu em Lewiston, Maine, em 21 de dezembro de 1871. Ele estudou em Paris na Académie Julian. Mais conhecido por suas representações icônicas de mulheres bonitas, frequentemente chamadas de "Hamilton King Girls", ele contribuiu para Woman's Home Companion, Theatre Magazine, The Daily Picayune e The Popular Magazine. Hamilton também criou imagens para publicitar produtos como Coca-Cola e cartões de cigarro para Turkish Trophies. Ele era membro da American Federation of Arts, e a Society of Illustrators concede anualmente o "Hamilton King Award" aos ilustradores em sua homenagem.
