Harmen Steenwyck

Harmen Steenwijck ou Harmen Steenwyck foi um pintor holandês de naturezas-mortas da Idade de Ouro. Steenwyck nasceu em Delft e seu ano de nascimento é uma estimativa aproximada baseada no surgimento de sua primeira pintura em 1633. Ele era irmão de Pieter Steenwijck, também pintor de naturezas-mortas, cujo pai Evert os enviou para aprender pintura com seu tio David Bailly em Leiden. David Bailly influenciou Steenwyck a pintar sua primeira obra «Vanitas». Harmen esteve ativo como pintor em Leiden entre 1628 e 1633. Ele voltou para Delft de 1633 a 1656. Em 1654-1655, ele fez uma viagem às Índias Orientais Holandesas. Ele morreu em Leiden. Steenwijck é mais conhecido por seu sermão visual na pintura Uma Alegoria das Vaidades da Vida Humana que ele pintou em 1658 na National Gallery, Londres.
