ヘンドリック・アヴェルカンプ
オランダ冬景色の先駆者
ヘンドリック・アーフェルカンプはオランダの画家である。アーフェルカンプはアムステルダムに生まれ、デンマーク生まれの肖像画家ピーテル・イサックス（1569年–1625年）に師事し、おそらくダフィット・フィンクボーンズにも学んだと考えられている。1608年、彼はアムステルダムからオーファーアイセル州のカンペンに移住した。アーフェルカンプは聴覚障害と言語障害があり、「デ・ストンメ・ファン・カンペン」（カンペンの唖者）として知られていた。 17世紀オランダ派の最初期の風景画家の一人として、彼は冬のオランダの情景を描くことを専門とした。アフェルカンプの絵画は色彩豊かで生き生きとしており、風景の中に配された人々が丁寧に描き出されている。彼の作品は、17世紀初頭のオランダにおけるスポーツや余暇の様子を活写している。アフェルカンプの多くの絵画には、凍った湖の上でアイススケートを楽しむ人々の姿が描かれている。 アフェルカンプの作品は大きな人気を博し、彼の素描の多くは水彩で彩色され、完成品として収集家のアルバムに貼り付けるために販売されました。ロイヤル・コレクションは、彼の作品の優れたコレクションを所蔵しています。 アフェルカンプはカンペンで死去し、同地のシント・ニコラースケルクに埋葬された。
