Hendrick ter Brugghen
Tenebrismo audaz y realismo social
Hendrick ter Brugghen fue un pintor neerlandés de escenas de género y temas religiosos. Fue uno de los miembros más destacados de los seguidores neerlandeses de Caravaggio, los llamados caravaggistas de Utrecht. Junto con Gerrit van Honthorst y Dirck van Baburen, Ter Brugghen fue uno de los pintores neerlandeses más importantes influenciados por Caravaggio. Sus pinturas se caracterizaban por su audaz técnica del claroscuro —el contraste producido por superficies claras y luminosas junto a secciones sombrías y oscuras—, pero también por el realismo social de sus temas, a veces encantadores, a veces impactantes o francamente vulgares.
